Believe it or not there is good music out there, I’m glad someone like Adele is finally getting recognition. Her most recent effort ‘21’ was released today and has been winning over almost everyone.
The album is almost entirely acoustically recorded, save for a few bits and pieces, which is something less prominent in pop music. For the most part the texture remains very simple, which puts a huge emphasis on the vocal abilities of Adele. The album opens and closes with a very soulful, almost classic rhythm and blues style. Only once or twice do I really hear generic pop coming through, in songs like “Set Fire To The Rain”. Her honest voice and melodies, along with the soulful instrumentation is what sets her apart from other chart toppers.
She’s been breaking some chart records, and bringing a new face to ‘pop’ music. It’s simple, honest, soulful, roots pop.
