It is unusual for a band to be equally influenced by heavy hitting groups like As I lay Dying and He Is Legend, as well as the epic balladry of musicals like Les Miserables and Phantom. Yet, on Ice Nine Kills' latest release, The Burning, the sound of earth-shattering drumming and lacerating guitar riffs on a song like The Greatest Story Ever Told, share space with songs like What I Should Have Learned In Study Hall that gently move the listener with little more than an acoustic guitar . Ice Nine Kills, The band, named after the ultimate weapon of mass destruction from the Vonnegut novel, Cats Cradle -will, like its namesake, awe you. The group seamlessly weaves soaring melodies with the raw emotion and aggression of post hardcore and metal, creating in the process a refreshing sound that both soothes and knocks-over the listener. The band utilizes multi textured guitar hooks, a dual vocal attack, and a pummeling rhythm section which takes the listener by the throat, and refuses to let go. INK's relentless touring schedule, combined with intelligent guerilla marketing tactics, has helped their latest release, The Burning, pass the 20,000 CD's sold mark in under 12 months. This was no easy task, especially without national distribution. When the band was not pouring their hearts into intense live performances, one of which resulted in a broken heel, they would be at malls, skateparks, other shows and festivals, spreading their manically infectious music with ipods and headphones. "This past year we really tried to make every second count with this band," said Spencer. "In a day and age when alot of bands might chill backstage instead of meeting their fans, kids found it really refreshing that we were out there on the streets and in the parking lots, pushing something that we really believe in." Their Hard work is definitely starting to pay off, and this is becoming apparent at their live shows, "It's always an amazing feeling to show up in a place you have never played before like Dallas TX, or Orlando FL, and have kids scream your lyrics back to you. It makes the 10 hour night drives, sleeping on floors, and other hardships of being in a touring band all worthwhile," Jeremy said in a recent interview. With Alternative Press's stamp of approval (a band you need to know- issue #240), a fanatical online following (consistently landing them in the top 10 on both the Myspace and PureVolume charts), and a newly formed partnership with The Artery Foundation (A Day To Remember, The Devil Wears Prada), Ice Nine Kills is looking to do some serious damage in 2009.
INK was founded by Jeremy Schwartz and Spencer Charnas in a small town on the Massachusetts coast. After a few years of honing their chops, releasing demos, and playing the DIY touring circuit, the band caught the eye of Mike Krilivsky, the owner of indie upstart label, Red Blue Records. "Mike's passion and work ethic sold us immediately on the label," said Spencer. In late 2007, armed with a ferocious desire to make a name for themselves, the band released their album, The Burning, a record that finally realized INK's potential as a band. INK then hit the road and has not looked back since. The band embarked on 4 full U.S Tours this past year and has opened for such notable acts as Senses Fail, Paramore, Love Hate Hero, Before Their Eyes, and He Is Legend.

ive been an ink fan for a while now, their songs always make it onto my mixtapes. however this condition had a lot of publicity and they went crazy on facebook and god knows where else to help promote this competition, and their members/fans/my good friend who does a lot for the band did everything they could to get everyone they know to vote for them..no offense to ink because i love them, but if theyve already been to warped etc. then they should be good enough to get to bamboozle on their own

It was a good competition. Cheating is monitored and both us and INK are still here. Lets just see the end result. Either way, I dont think there should be any grudges between us (This Condition) and Ice Nine Kills.
This Condition got the last 200 votes because we [their fans and friends] pulled together and got all of our friends and family to vote for them because they're the sweetest group of guys in the world and totally deserve this big break. I have nothing against Ice Nine, but This Condition hasn't been on Warped Tour or sold 20,000 CD's, yet. Let them have this. It was a really close race. We'll find out soon who the decided winner is, so stop the hate talk.
these guys are cheaters by having done full US tours being on warped tour and under the biggest management company in the US. they have an established fanbase and had the number album sold on smart punk for a year. how the condition got 200 votes in the last 30 minutes is whats really at question. Very much so in question. It's also very suspicious that 4 of you keep coming onto a bands page trash talking calling them out for cheating. The same four kids.

Both bands deserve it, obviously, because they've both made themselves loyal fanbases. Whoever doesn't win, will most likely still keep on doing what they do, regardless of the fact they lost a silly contest to play in a festival.

Hey guys no offense but INK is not cheating. They have proper management that has followed this contest since day one. They have friends such as alesana,asking alexandria,honor bright and dang we're on fire posting bulletins constantly which is helping showpopr reach its goal of gaining emails and fan base. Don't go for the whole your band sux approach. INK has been doing it legit since day one I can probably argue most are creating emails just for votes.

First of all, ice nine kills are signed and have an unfair advantage. While This Condition, an unsigned band have been keeping up with you throughout the entire competition. Secondly, This Condition are young talent musicians and Ice Nine Kills band are an unremarkably non-talented piece of white trash band and everyone knows there cheating. But its ok, becuase you can apologize to them after they finish their set at bamboozle.

My friend showed me a song by u guys awhile back. (The Greatest Story Ever Told) Loved it! U guys rock! That song and others r wat brought INK into my life. Bamboozle deserves the best. Ice Nine Kills is the best. Kick ass!! No one but u guys should play this show!!
