Normally I am not a fan of Crate, at all, but this amp is a pretty outstanding exception to that. Crate made it's V-50 hand wired series as a quality product reaching out of their relatively genre specific sounds. There are definitely some pros and cons with this amp, but the sound and power for the price truly make this a great value.
First off, you have a 50 watt semi open back 2x12, so up against similar priced amps, that's a lot of sound. It's hard to trade the stereo sound of a 2x12 amp for a 1x12 or smaller. It's a two channel amp which is nice, and although I'm not normally a fan of Crate's gain and distortion I was able to find a pretty solid tone. The clean, on the other hand, is just simply fantastic, perfectly smooth and pushing out a ton of volume without breaking up.
What could be seen as either a pro or con, the amp has some digital effects built in. I suppose it's better than no effects, and the foot controller will give you easy access to your favorite one, but they aren't exactly the best. You have a bunch of delay and reverb effects right there in the amp but I would still recommend getting better stomp pedals.
This amp is definitely giving you tone and power at a bargain, in that aspect it's a great deal. Effects are relatively forgettable, not seeing much resale value on this, and probably the only other con is that it's 58 pounds. You can find it new from around $700 and used for about half that, if you're looking for a new combo, for the same price as a fender 1x12, possibly even cheaper, you're getting more amp and equal tone. Save some money on the amp, spend on your effects pedals, because they'll come with you if you decide to upgrade.
