Remember Days Away ? Mapping an Invisible World still might be my favorite album of all time. They may have only had a few label releases but they had a ton of material to offer. Material which, when listened to chronologically, creates an incredible timeline of an artist's evolution. The band transformed and grew so quickly and unfortunately came to an abrupt end after their last release Ear Candy For The Headphone Trippers.
Mapping an Invisible World and Ear Candy For The Headphone Trippers were their only widely avaiable efforts, still avaible at all digital retailers and probably a bunch of other places. Their other demos and unsigned releases may be a bit harder to find.
The Feel of It Ep was released in 2002 followed by the L.S.D.E.P in 2003 and the E.S.P.E.P in 2005. Those may be a bit harder to come upon, and then even more difficult the other demos and b-sides scattered around the interweb.
You can still see some of these guys performing in a new group called Good Old War , which is a trio that includes technical acoustic guitars and elaborate vocals plagued with harmonies. A bit different, and far from a derivative of Days Away but outstanding none the less.
For more information on Days Away you can check out their wiki page , or their lastfm page , and for other music and such be sure to check out their myspace .
Be sure also to check out some of the new material past members are working on in Good Old War on their myspace.
