The Graduate - The Evergreen EP
8/10
i like music. this sounded like music. i liked it.
The Graduate released this ep not too long ago in a collaboration with absolutepunk.net, and what seems to be trend with my recent reviews, this was also free. Before you get too excited on free music, i should tell you that most of the content on it is alternate versions of songs off their full length album Anhedonia.
The first two songs on the ep are slower simpler versions of "Sit and Sink" and "Anhedonia" which were both on the full length album they released in 2007. Perhaps it isn't exactly what I was looking for, but at least some material to give a listen in the mean time. The following three tracks were "We're On The Same Page" an acoustic version of "The City That Reads" and "Gunslinger". All of the songs on the album fit into a slower melodic tone unlike the the full length album which has more pop and energy. Despite that the texturing is still rather rich and the vocals sound great even with the tempo change.
You can get a free copy of this ep for download here and be sure to check out the full length which for limited time is on sale for $2.99.
Here's what you get if you snag the download from ap.net"
