Kanye West "808s & Heartbreak" REVIEW

By gyaeger Dec 05, 2008

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

9/10

Unbelievable.

Despite popular belief, it looks like Kanye is actually human, and it has been proven with this latest release. Finally it's more than just lyrics that portray the emotion of this hip hop star, and each song radiates with pain and heartbreak. Those of you looking for a straight up rap or hip hop album will most certainly be disappointed, but as far as I’m concerned, you can f**k off. Certainly this is a break through album, and not just f

The Graduate "The Evergreen EP" REVIEW

The Graduate - The Evergreen EP

8/10

i like music. this sounded like music. i liked it.

The Graduate released this ep not too long ago in a collaboration with absolutepunk.net, and what seems to be trend with my recent reviews, this was also free. Before you get too excited on free music, i should tell you that most of the content on it is alternate versions of songs off their full length album Anhedonia.

The first two songs on the ep are slower simpler versions of "Sit and Sink" and "Anhe

You, Me, And Everyone We Know "So Young, So InsaneEP" Review

By gyaeger Nov 18, 2008

You, Me, and Everyone We Know- So Young, So Insane EP

6/10

Not an extreme change in style but a change indeed from last time we have heard from these guys. Interesting how this is the second Free EP I am reviewing today. After a lineup change one would expect an unfortunately a loss of loyalty. I have a feeling that some fans may be deterred from this release due to the change so releasing it for free was a solid idea.

The album open with a strong track "I Can Get Back Up Now" but unfortuna

Graham Wright "The Lakes of Alberta" Review

Graham Wright- Lakes of Alberta review

8/10

Last year Graham Wright of Tokyo Police Club had promised to release his solo EP before the end of 2008 and he has now done so. This short EP is a heartwarming mix of soft acoustic music. I've never been a follower of Tokyo Police Club but after seeing that this release was made available for free I decided to give it an honorable chance.

I'm suprised to say that the EP is far from what I expected but most certainly for the better. The songs "The L

Adventures in CMJ: Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

By mikemerrell Nov 05, 2008

So I had to kick my night off with the fantastic showcase at Bowery Ballroom featuring Friendly Fires, Lykke Li and a band that I made a major point to see, was Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson. I had gotten a copy of his record back in September when I read that it had been produced by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor and that Kyp from TV on the Radio had already produced his sophmore album, I was obviously curious. The album didn't disappoint, and the live show didn't either.. the album has

If you say it's impossible to have a hangover for 5 days, well then i'd say you are completely wrong. :)

I'm still kind of feeling a bit sluggish after my CMJ experience last week and for some reason, it's not going away.   Now don't get me wrong, it's a good thing.  My ears are still buzzing and my heart is still beating a bit faster than usual..  but it's a beautiful backlash.  I still have a bunch of photos and opinions about the music festival itself, but overall, this will be my outlet t

CMJ Update (Jared Mees)

By christina Oct 25, 2008

Attending day shows at the Knitting Factory turned out to be the most productive part of CMJ. With three floors, the Tap Bar, Old Office and the Main Stage, I was able to pick and choose from dozens of bands playing. At 3 p.m, too many drunken indie rock fans were moshing at the Main Stage so I left to test my luck in the Old Office. Same situation so once again I moved down a floor and was floored by the band playing.
